Old wine is a lottery. Has it survived? Is it still drinkable? What are the chances its a gorgeous stunner of my wine dreams?
A: Medium gold, clearly showing some age
N: medium intensity, with attractive aged characters of butter and toast. There is still life in this old girl – apricot, honey, pear but definitely more buttery notes, and just a bit of a lemonade waft.
P: acidity is fresh, it feels quite nervy with apricot, honey, marmalade notes all with a hint of lemon. There is that lemon preserve element and more buttered toast. It’s not a knock out but a well aged beauty, quite elegant and refined.
For a 8 year old, it’s holding up quite deliciously.
